Dekpo
The village is located on the shores of Lake Togo, to 30 km east of the capital Lomé.
Description
Dekpo consists of four districts that depend on fishing, agriculture and the extraction of gravel over the years ..., fish resources are dwindling and the rural exodus hits hard : Lomé, nearby, figure is suction pump. Despite this, the village retains some vitality : about 800 adult population (over 18 years) have been identified for the elections in August 2007. We can estimate that as many children as adults.
Many villagers went to Lomé to find more remunerative work. so some houses are abandoned. Roads and public spaces of the village that are poorly maintained and because of monsoon rains, the gullying causes subsidence of the soil exposing the foundations. However, at the initiative of an association of Lomé nationals from Dekpo (Development think tank and action committee) hope is reborn.
